Sabirin Aden: YouthWorks Participant
Meet Sabirin, a standout intern in Project Iowa YouthWorks program, who recently completed her internship right here with us—under the mentorship of Jamie Loggins-Evans, Director of Communications and Marketing!
Sabirin joined YouthWorks with a clear goal: to gain professional experience, step outside her comfort zone, and try something new. From day one, she embraced the opportunity, bringing creativity and curiosity to every task.
Throughout her internship, Sabirin took the lead in creating dynamic social media content, designing eye-catching graphics and writing insightful workforce-related articles. She not only developed her technical skills but also learned how to use brand colors effectively and tailor content to specific audiences—key strategies in any professional setting.
One of Sabirin’s biggest challenges—and triumphs—came when she was reassigned to a new company partway through the program. Shifting from a loud, bustling environment to a quieter, more focused workplace required adaptability and resilience. Sabirin rose to the occasion, learning to adjust quickly and thrive in the new setting.
Her experience at Project Iowa didn’t just prepare her for the workplace—it aligned with her long-term goals in the medical field, where communication and connection are essential.
Next up: Attending DMACC and continuing to build her future, one step at a time. She hopes to find a job that complements her school schedule and allows her to keep growing in confidence and skill.
